MLB Pool faqs
When can I make my knockout round picks?
Knockout round matchups aren’t available until the previous round is complete. Once the matchups are set, come back to your pool and make your picks before each game kicks off.
Do I need to submit all my picks before the tournament starts?
No. Picks lock game by game, right before each match kicks off — so you can come back and make your picks as each round approaches.
What if I go over my entry limit?
The platform will block additional participants from joining once the limit is reached. If you think you’ll exceed your current plan’s limit, we recommend upgrading to a higher tier before hitting the cap. Reach out to us before the payment deadline and we can adjust your plan — and downgrade if you end up with fewer entries than expected.
Can I change the scoring settings in a Pick'em pool?
No, scoring settings are locked in Pick’em pools and can’t be edited.
Can one person enter multiple teams in the same bracket?
Yes! As a pool administrator, you can toggle the “Allow multiple teams per user” setting. This is a great way to increase the competition and give participants a “backup” bracket if their primary one gets “busted” early in the tournament.
How do you create an MLB pick’em pool?
Once you’ve selected “Pick’em Pool” and chosen your international tournament (e.g., FIFA World Cup, UEFA Euro, Copa América), follow these steps to complete your setup:
Step 1: General Settings
- Pool Name:
- Give your pool a custom name (e.g., World Cup 2024 Pick’em Challenge).
- Start and End Dates:
- The Start and End Dates are automatically set to match the full tournament schedule. However, you can adjust these dates if you’d like to limit the picking period to only part of the tournament.
- The Start and End Dates are automatically set to match the full tournament schedule. However, you can adjust these dates if you’d like to limit the picking period to only part of the tournament.
- Optional Features:
- Enable Trash Talk – Allows poolies to chat within the pool
- Show Team Owners in Standings – Displays real names and profile pictures in the leaderboard
Step 2: Scoring Settings
- Max Picks per Game Day:
- Set how many matches poolies can pick each day (default allows picks for all available games).
- Drop Lowest Periods (Optional):
- Choose to drop 0–4 of a poolie’s lowest-scoring match days or weeks from their total score. Helpful for longer tournaments or to allow a buffer for missed picks.
- Scoring Type:
- The format is Straight-Up only — participants pick the match winner or select a draw.
- Default Scoring:
- 1 point is awarded per correct pick.
- Click Save to finalize your settings.
Step 3: Invite Poolies
Once your pool is created:
- Head to the Invites tab.
- Share the Shareable Invite Link for mass invites, or use Personal Invite Links for direct, one-time invitations.
Participants can begin making picks as soon as the tournament schedule is available.
How do Admins add teams to an MLB pool?
Admins can add teams manually to an EPL pool if they prefer to enter them on behalf of participants.
To Add a Team Manually:
Go to the Admin menu.
Click on the Roster tab.
Select Team Editor from the sub-menu.
Click + Create Team.
Enter Team Details:
Fill in the Team Name and Email Address of the participant.
(Optional) Mark the team as Paid.
Make player selections for the team based on the pool’s format (Box, Draft, or Open).
Click Save, or Save and Add Another to enter more teams.
What Happens Next?
The participant will receive an email notification prompting them to connect to their team.
Once they sign in or create an OfficePools account using that email, the team will appear on their dashboard.
Until the participant connects, you’ll see a “Remind to Connect” option below their team name in the team list.
How does a poolie claim/connect to a team?
If a team was entered by the admin, the poolie simply needs to sign in using the same email the admin used.
- If the poolie doesn’t yet have an account, they’ll need to create and verify one.
- If they use a different email, the admin must update the email in Admin > Roster > Team List to match their OfficePools account.
Are OfficePools soccer challenges legal in the US and Mexico?
Yes. OfficePools is a social engagement platform built for fun and bragging rights, not a gambling site. We provide a safe, non-betting environment for coworkers and friends to compete based on their soccer knowledge, making it the perfect “United” challenge for fans across the continent.
